"Thanks to a long year-end break and the easing up of professional obligations, I am pleased to announce that the long-awaited 50th issue of _Vinyar Tengwar_...

Hallo!

I just don't like mailing lists, they're so early 90s.. Well, in the case of lambengolmor, it's actually an excellent list, which is totally focused on "serious" Tolkien linguistics. Given the amount of analysis posted lately one have to think that there aren't many interested in those se...

I find your Telerin/Latin comparison very interesting. This really supports the theory that Tolkien devised Telerin to be latinlike... Aran, you really should share your observations on lambengolmor, too. Just posting them here - well on lambengolmor you at least get the chance to get some input fro...

thanks again for the input Aran!
It isn't lengthened, just accented. Tolkien denotes long vowels in roots with a macron. A long first vowel of the sequence will prevent the change, however - see loar, lávar mentioned above.
Your right, well that explains some things ^^.

As far as we know, Tolkien never mentioned any specific inspiration for Telerin (like Finnish was the prime inspiration for Quenya and Welsh for Sindarin). Some detect an Italian flavour in Telerin. For what it is worth, Tolkien did like this language: "I remain in love with Italian, and feel ...

Thanks for sharing some valuable informations on the latest issue of PE, Aran! Lots of interesting material there. Some things you mentioned Aran (More incoming when I get my copy 8) ): Telerin - Latein, seems kinda weird; Tolkien stated that the main inspiration for Telerin is in fact Italiano awa,...
